Sainfoin acts as a natural anthelmintic and the tannins
this legume contains aids protein absorption and reduces
the risk of bloat in ruminants. The nutritional balance and
high voluntary intake of the species by livestock enhances
DLWG or milk production. Best suited to light soils, the deep
rooting system of sainfoin provides a drought-resistant
forage. Sainfoin also increases biodiversity by attracting
an abundance of insects and invertebrates, especially
pollinators.
